A Wedding of Details....
21 June 2009
To me, Wedding Photography is all about the people. Not only the happy couple but also the friends and family who have been invited to the ceremony and be part of a special time in the couples life.
I also try to remember that most Brides(and some Grooms) have put a lot of effort into getting all the details just right. They have often been planning the wedding for any months, sometimes years, so it has to be right, and it is my responsibility to make sure I record that effort... in my own style of course.
Bens Mother made a statement with her hat.......
Ben`s Brother played Guitar(not the Band Ben`s Brother, but Ben`s real Brother....).
...and the remaining guests each made their own versions of the Bride and Groom to place on the cake......
Wedding photographers primarily are people people, but they must also have a full range of skills, including the technical skills of a commercial photographer, and the eye of a real artist....
NEWS FLASH - BRIDE BEHEADS GROOM AT WEDDING !!!!
21 June 2009
Bride looks on in horror as she realises just what she done..... with one clean swipe with a rather blunt sword and she has removed the grooms head!!!
Luckily it was just the head from the doll on the top of the wedding cake, but the look on the face of the Groom tells it all......
Good Luck Ben... sleep with one eye open.......
Kieli and Ben.... just too good looking to be fair....
19 June 2009
Some people have all the luck.... great jobs, amazing homes, good looks..... I`m not jealous... really...
Kieli and Ben are due to get married this weekend, so we decided to get together at the venue to discuss their plans and discuss what they wanted from me as their photographer. I really appreciate clients like this, both are talented professionals, Kieli is a professional Graphic Designer so she knows exactly what she likes in an image, which also meant she understood me and my style of photography.
Ben is extremely comfortable in front of the camera. Easy to photograph with rugged good looks he is perfect `man at millets` material... which makes my job a whole lot easier. Most men are uneasy infront of a camera, they often become stiff and lifeless, while Ben was easy to direct. Soft but direct light in the shade cast by a huge fire escape, creates just enough modelling to accentuate bens features, but not too much as to dominate the image.

Photographing Kieli in the same space was easy, yet again Kieli was easy, if not a little giggly, in front of the camera. Kieli is tall and elegant, her body language was relaxed and friendly, not at all nervous about the big day which was due any day. Ben and Kieli teased each other as I shot away. They laughed and joked with each other as I positioned them in the alcove under the stair well giving me the chance to capyure some lovely portraits.....
